Relief of Backache, Easier Childbirth, Better Breathing, Happy Disposition, Relaxation, Stress Prevention, Sound Sleep, Confidence, Balance, Peace of Mind, Energy, Sensitivity.
The School of Yoga provides instruction and guidance to promote these and other benefits.
You are encouraged to practise according to your own ability and not to compete with others.
Six-week courses of Antenatal Yoga will be held this year in central Croydon from 12.00 to 1.30pm on Saturdays commencing on March 6th, May 8th, June 19th, September 18th and October 30th.
For pregnancy and childbirth, practising Yoga is particularly helpful for improving your breathing, relaxation and inner awareness of your body. It also helps to improve your posture and prevent backaches. Antenatal Yoga classes differ from general Yoga classes to allow for the bodily changes of pregnancy. e.g. the relaxation posture is different and long holding of breath is prohibited.
General Yoga classes are not suitable or safe during pregnancy unless you already have long experience of Yoga and are conscious of your body’s inner workings.
Bringing a new life into the world is a profound and moving event. The spiritual aspect of Yoga can be very helpful in integrating this experience with other areas of your life. Yoga, Religion and Philosophy share the common ground of a search for Truth and pursuit of personal and social wellbeing and integrity. You will find that practising Yoga deepens your experience and understanding of your religion or philosophy. It never conflicts with beliefs that are based on experience; it also brings you close to the experiences of the authors of sacred texts and the great classics of mysticism.
